Frequently asked questions

Short answers for common Cartosketch workflow, billing, and output questions.

How do Cartosketch credits work?

Each generation spends credits based on the selected resolution tier. Subscription credits are used before pack credits, and pack credits do not expire.

Can I try Cartosketch for free?

Yes. New accounts can create a first low-resolution square sketch before upgrading for larger downloads and custom aspect ratios.

Which route files can I upload?

Cartosketch supports GPX and FIT files, plus coordinate imports. The browser parses the route and renders it on the map before generation.

Will the route geometry stay accurate?

Yes. Route generation uses your uploaded coordinates and adds a strong prompt constraint to preserve the red route geometry.

What resolution should I use for printing?

Use 2K or 4K for framed prints when available. The free 1K output downloads with a watermark — best for previews and social posts.

Can I use the artwork commercially?

Commercial use is included. Avoid using protected event names, official logos, or third-party branding as your own.
